Why composite decking suits Taunton gardens
Anyone who’s lived in Taunton through a wet winter knows the drill. The Met Office records around 770mm of rainfall a year for Taunton, and the low-lying ground across the Somerset Levels means water sits longer than it does elsewhere. That’s a problem for timber decking. Softwood planks rot from underneath, warp as they absorb moisture, and develop algae across the top surface within a couple of years. Composite is a completely different material. Our boards are made from recycled wood fibre bound with HDPE plastic, so water doesn’t soak in the way it does with timber. No rot, no splinters, no annual staining. Taunton’s housing stock leans heavily towards Victorian and Edwardian terraces in the centre, post-war semis through Staplegrove and Galmington, and newer estates on the edges of town. Composite works across all of them. Boards are fully reversible, moulded woodgrain (Woodsman+) on one side, contemporary wide-groove (Active+) on the other. What a composite deck in Taunton costs
